These paintings were the result of a trip along the coast of Normandy and Brittany, discovering the ties between nature and human history. They document the passage of generations through time and across spaces otherwise unreachable, were it not through the now decaying boats, their skeletal remains so resembling the bones of the fish they once held. The bridges long survive their builders, and the constant changes of tidal water are to remind us of the repetitions of history, of fallen human nature, at once in it’s glory and helplessness.
